I'm expecting my first child in June and I am wondering about the type of diapers I should use. Most of my friends use disposables because they are easier to use than cloth. What do you advise?

Put yourself in your new baby's diapers. Would you rather have plastic or cloth on your bottom? I know people think disposables are easier and they are. However, when you throw them in the garbage, do you know where they are going? They are going to landfills which helps to pollute our environment. Cloth diapers are less money and I think that compared to the old days when I was washing diapers, they are a lot easier to clean. You just take a dirty diaper, rinse it in the toilett, put it in the diaper pail until you have enough to put in the washer. You then dump the pail, water included, into the washer and run the rinse cycle to get all of the dirty water removed. You then add ivory snow and boraxo to the wash, when done throw the diapers in the dryer. You'll save money and your baby will be much happier with a clean, soft, cotton diaper on her/his bottom. And, bottom line, we all want a happy baby.
